San Juan Parks and Rec
While serving as Project Manager at ERO Architects, Edgar Villanueva developed the design for this vibrant community hub that brings together recreational programming and public gathering spaces under one dynamic roof. The building’s distinctive barrel-vaulted form in deep navy blue creates an iconic presence within San Juan’s park system, while extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing ensures transparency and visual connection between indoor activities and outdoor recreation areas.
The modern industrial aesthetic combines white horizontal metal siding with warm brick accents, establishing a welcoming yet durable facility built for high-traffic community use. A playful graphic wall panel celebrating active lifestyles reinforces the building’s mission as a center for health, wellness, and community engagement. This facility demonstrates a commitment to designing public spaces that inspire recreation, foster social connections, and serve as catalysts for community vitality.
This project was completed during Edgar Villanueva’s tenure as Project Manager/Designer at ERO Architects, who served as architect of record. Images shown may include new renderings created by Raine Architects to illustrate the project’s design character and scope.
