San Juan Fire Station
As Project Designer at ERO Architects, Edgar Villanueva collaborated on the architectural design for this state-of-the-art emergency response facility that balances operational efficiency with civic presence in the heart of San Juan. The building’s contemporary design features four apparatus bays with bold red overhead doors flanked by limewashed brick masonry, creating a clean, modern aesthetic rooted in traditional fire station typology.
A striking yellow “01” graphic element and decorative perforated metal screen establish strong visual identity and wayfinding, while the civic entrance with municipal seal creates a welcoming public interface. The facility provides modern amenities essential to 24/7 emergency operations, including living quarters, training spaces, and equipment storage, all organized to optimize response times and crew efficiency. Strategic use of natural materials, controlled massing, and careful detailing ensure the station serves as both a functional emergency services hub and a prominent civic landmark.
This project was completed during Edgar Villanueva’s tenure as Project Manager/Designer at ERO Architects, who served as architect of record. Images shown may include new renderings created by Raine Architects to illustrate the project’s design character and scope.
